Evan's "send-off"

5 days until we leave; 7 days until R-day. Yesterday we were surrounded by the support of family, and friends as we prepare to "send-off" Evan. What a wonderful time of love, prayer, and support. It helped strengthen me as I approach the joyful, but most difficult moment of saying goodbye to Evan as he goes to college. We knew this day would come, but no one could had prepared me for the incredible pride I feel for Evan, and yet at the same time, the inconceivable pain of letting go. We have been so blessed to have family celebrate this time with us. Janeen and her family joined us at graduation, Jarrod and some of his boys joined us for the "send-off," along with Brad's mom. They have been a pillar of support to me, and an remarkable help in preparing for the Evan's "send-off" event. Mark Harris sums up this time of separation so well. Songwriters: HARRIS, MARK R. / WOOD, TONY W. It's only for a moment you are mine to hold The plans that heaven has for you Will all too soon unfold So many different prayers I'll pray For all that you might do But most of all I'll want to know You're walking in the truth And If I never told you I want you to know As I watch you grow Chorus: I pray that God would fill your heart with dreams And that faith gives you the courage To dare to do great things I'm here for you whatever this life brings So let my love give you roots And help you find your wings May passion be the wind That leads you through your days And may conviction keep you strong Guide you on your way May there be many moments That make your life so sweet Oh, but more than memories Chorus: It's not living if you don't reach for the sky I'll have tears as you take off But I'll cheer as you fly

  1. What a beautiful tribute! LOVE that quilt! What a great idea for a send-off present. I remember feeling like I became part of the motherhood club when I had my first...but letting go of your child is also a passage we Moms must endure. And it's harder when you love them more!
